Dear Gary, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR THE NEW ROOF - It looks awesome.
We had a few smaller aftershocks on Saturday night and we were amazed - NO SOUND!
YOU WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT THIS OPPORTUNITY HAS MEANT FOR US.

Metrotile Shake profile update

Look out for the new Metrotile Shake profile, being introduced in January 2009. Its more defined vertical pressings give deeper shadow lines and improved water flow off the tiles. A flat section at the rear of each Metrotile Shake tile will improve the lapping areas and eliminate the need to stagger-lay the tiles. The overall result is faster installation and a more authentic shake-style appearance.

Metrotile’s Satin Finish

Metrotile has developed its own unique ‘satin acrylic colour-coating system’ for the Metrotile Shake, Metrotile Classic and Metrotile Bond profiles. Thicker than standard coil-coated products, the Metrotile satin finish has a lower sheen, making it more durable and less slippery under foot for installers. With less light reflection, it offers bolder colours.

Project profile: Metrotile re-roofs Philippines country club

The Tagaytay Highlands Community in the Philippines was recently hit by a typhoon that severely damaged houses in its first residential project, Pinecrest Village, which bore the brunt of the storm. Designed by renowned architects Pablo Antonio and Nonoy Hubilla in the style of a Swiss Alpine village and built in 1994, Pinecrest contains 167 condominiums, many of which lost their roofs in the high winds.

Through its sole distributor in the Philippines, Multi-line, Metrotile was commissioned to replace the damaged roofs, which were originally built using fibre cement tiles. The re-roofing project began in June 2008 and incorporated 12,000m2 of new roofing.

Metrotile roofing systems can withstand hurricane-force winds of up to 190kph, making them an ideal solution for a typhoon-prone location such as the Philippines.

Project profile: Metrotile wins worldwide tender

Constructed over a three-year period, Richmond St Ann is a large residential and commercial development at Chukka Cove in Jamaica. Set on 200 hectares overlooking the Caribbean Sea, it incorporates more than 1000 residences in a series of gated communities, a school, shopping complex, parks, a medical centre and an office/industrial park. The world-class project by the Richmond Development Company was designed by Arthur Lowe from AG Lowe as a self-sustaining community with eco-friendly sewerage control, solar water heating and its own reliable water supply.

Metrotile was among a select group of suppliers chosen to provide products for the project. After winning a worldwide tender against US and Korean roofing companies, Metrotile Shake roofing was specified ‘to enhance the structural integrity of our residences,’ according to the development’s website. Four natural-looking colours: Weathered Timber, Forest, Ashwood and Beachwood, were selected to complement the architecture and provide wind, hurricane, fire and earthquake resistance. Energy-efficient and virtually maintenance free, Metrotile Shake roofing was a great match for this prestigious development.

As a lightweight roofing product, the use of Metrotile Shake roofing also helped reduce building costs for the project.

Project profile: Luxury hotel crowned by Metrotile

The new five-star Iberostar Rose Hall complex overlooks the stunning Montego Bay on the island of Jamaica. Incorporating three different resort options, the USD850 million development will eventually comprise 978 rooms.

Metrotile recently won a worldwide tender against six other international roofing companies to supply roofing products for the hotel and apartment complex. Metrotile tendered for the project in conjunction with its sole Jamaican distributor, Spectrum Systems, and won the tender to supply and install 15,000m2 worth of stone-coated shingles. The hotel’s developers, Spanish chain Iberostar, selected the low-profile Metrotile Shingle because of its affordability, durability and, importantly, its ability to withstand the hurricane winds that frequently sweep through the Caribbean. Metrotile Shingle in ‘Weathered Timber’ was chosen to complement the elegant colonial-style architecture and the property’s pale exterior colour palette.
